6th Dan Promotion

6th Dan Promotion - Saturday 3rd October 2015, Blyth.

The ASK are pleased to announce that Juli Pops of Morpeth Karate Club has been awarded 6th Dan by Chief Instructor Sensei Dave Hazard during a 2-day open course hosted by Sensei Jeff Westgarth 7th Dan at Blyth ASK. Congratulations also go to Stephen Hussey who graded to 4th Dan on the course.

ASK Instructors Course

On Sunday 26th July 2015 at the 'The Dojo' in Nottingham, senior club instructors from around the United Kingdom along with their assistants joined Sensei Hazard 7th Dan for the annual ASK instructors class.

The content of 2015's three-hour training session consisted of close examination being given to the foot transitions between stances when stepping, turning, blocking, punching and kicking especially with Kekomi.

The kata Nijushiho was also looked at in great detail. Sensei Hazard was assisted on the instructors class by senior association 7th Dans - Jess Lavender and Jeff Westgarth.

Inaugural Shotokan Shield

ASK Kiryoku were proud to represent the academy at the inaugural Shotokan Shield held in Luton, Bedfordshire.

Open Course & ASK Dan Grading (Blyth)

Blyth & Morpeth Karate Clubs hosted another fantastic training course in the North East with Sensei Dave Hazard 7th Dan. With successful gradings for the following ASK students, 1st Dan - Sam Lyons, David Patterson and Alan Watson.

Presentation of the Matthew Walton Memorial Shield 2014

At a course hosted by Clare Shotokan Karate Club, Cein Hogan was presented with the Matthew Walton memorial shield as the best young ASK karateka of 2014. The presentation took place midway through an excellent 2-day course with Academy chief instructor Sensei Dave Hazard.
